Boryung Successfully Concludes 2025 Humans In Space Youth Final Competition

Winners to have artwork presented on ISS and visit U.S. space agencies

[Press Release] On October 21, Boryung announced that it successfully concluded the final round of the '2nd Humans In Space Youth (HIS Youth)' competition on the 18th at Yonsei University's Future Education Center.

HIS Youth is an educational program launched by Boryung to nurture the next generation of space life science talent. This marks the second edition of the competition, following its inaugural event last year. This year's competition was held for elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide under the theme "Human Life in Space." Approximately 300 people attended the event, including Boryung CEO and Chairman Jay Kim, representatives from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity and the Korea AeroSpace Administration, participating students, and parents.

The competition featured 30 elementary teams and 11 middle and high school teams that advanced through regional preliminaries. Elementary students presented artworks on the theme of "medicines needed for human space exploration," while middle and high school students presented research proposals on "anticipated problems and solutions for long-term human habitation in space."

According to Boryung, winners will receive the opportunity to visit major U.S. space-related institutions and companies in November, including NASA, commercial space station company Axiom Space, and Intuitive Machines, the first private company to successfully land on the moon. During the trip, students will experience guidance from space medicine experts, visit Boryung's global partnership institutions, interact with industry professionals, and explore future research opportunities. Additionally, the winning elementary artworks will be transmitted to the International Space Station (ISS), following last year's precedent, where they will be introduced by astronauts.

Kim Ga-young, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Jung-min, 11th-grade students from Korean Minjok Leadership Academy who won the grand prize in the middle and high school division as Team 'Avengers,' shared their thoughts: "We are thrilled to have won among such outstanding participants. Although the research was challenging, it was truly meaningful to learn more about the new field of space medicine through our mentors' active guidance and lectures."

Regarding this year's second edition of the competition, Boryung CEO and Chairman Jay Kim emphasized, "Seeing a teacher who participated last year by mentoring a different team now guiding other students this year, I definitely feel we're contributing to broadening awareness about space itself. The efforts of students who participated in this competition to develop their ideas are already contributing to sending humanity to Mars, and I hope they take pride in that."
